Bad acne can really have an effect on your life, but there are treatments that you can use that can help you clear up that embarrassing problem. Depending on the severity of your acne will greatly affect what kind of treatment option that you can use. There are many different treatments options such as an all natural approach or prescription and non prescription medications.

You will want to start with the least amount of medication as possible that you can work your way up depending on how well the treatment helps. It will also depend on your skin type whether a certain treatment will work for you. If you have sensitive skin, then you may need to use only the prescription medications.

There is no quick fix for acne whether you have a mild or severe case. It does take time to treat acne. It will not go away over night so if you try a cream and you don’t see differences in the morning, then don’t be too upset. Most treatments will take several weeks before you see a big difference in your skin. Some treatments may even take up to a couple of months.

Acne treatments come in a couple of different forms. There are spot creams, liquid antiseptic ointments or serums, and oral medications. The spot treatments are the most common among young people. This is because you can get them over the counter without a prescription from the doctor. These creams are also good for people who only have mild acne.

People who have moderate to severe acne may prefer to use the oral medications. These treatments have been found to be the most effective forms. You must have a prescription for these types of treatments. They work well but are most commonly used as a last resort to other forms of treatments. It is not recommended that you start out using the oral medication except in severe cases of acne.

The oral acne treatments work, but sometimes they are not recommended because they also come with side effects. Some of the side effects are minimal, but others can be very severe. Rashes and severe depression are some of the typical side effects that the oral medication can cause. That is why most often this particular type of treatment is not normally used on any under the age of 18. If you have severe acne it is recommended that you see a dermatologist to see what course of action would be best for your case.

Known as long-term acne sufferers, acne treatments rarely work and do not work worldwide. Fraud over the counter acne products such as creams, cleansers, ointments, etc. and what they say, is simply solve the problem of surface, if not irritate the skin so badly to actually make the problem worse. Doctors say that their drugs do not cure acne, but can help control it. Another mask, just what we need! Doctors refer to acne as a "mysterious disease". Is there a cure – possibly, some seem to think so. During the research for this article, I have never found anything really substantial. However, it seems that our biological makeup and hormones have much to do with whether we have problems with acne and to what extent, if we do. Most look like a simple acne skin problem, but for those who have had acne for a period of years is much more. Self-esteem, insecurities and emotional problems can also be developed. The problem with acne medications remains their claims to kill bacteria on the skin surface. However, the bacteria is not the cause of acne is a symptom of acne. Therefore, not one of these products or medicines to cure the problem. If this were really a disease, then it would make sense that the problem resides inside the body, making his entrance through the pores of the skin, which in turn creates the result of bacteria. Therefore, the real answer lies in the quest for inner healing. Another way to reduce the effects of acne is to see what we eat. While this may help some, others are still suffering and usually return to their normal diet after only seeing a slight improvement. The sorry truth is that none of the products on the market or through our pharmaceutical industry actually offers a cure. We can spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars and still have not healed acne. Our best hope is for less acne or if you're lucky, acne invisible. The ironic part of acne products is to examine the ingredients found in them. Most products sold contain at least one of the following active ingredients. Benzoyl peroxide – Claimed to be the most effective because it removes excess skin oil and dead skin cells from pores. Benzoyl peroxide can cause excessive drying, mild swelling, peeling and / or redness and sensitivity to UV exposure. Salicylic Acid – Used to prevent clogging of the pores and clogged pores can break they do not have an opening (white dots). This active ingredient may cause skin irritation. Sulfur and resorcinol – This ingredient is used in combination with other active ingredients to help remove dead skin and excess oil and may therefore breakdown whiteheads and blackheads. This can cause redness and peeling a few days after first use. Alcohol and acetone – commonly found in washing and cleaning astringent. These active ingredients remove dirt and oil from the skin and can cause a burning or stinging sensation. So what is the most effective way to control acne? Here are some suggestions from staff of the Mayo Clinic. When used in OTC products, start with lower-grade products for acne, then increase the strength as your skin adjusts to the product. Never combine different products using active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. This combination can cause skin problems even more. Do not use oily cosmetics, sunscreen, and shampoo. Look for products labeled "oil" to not clog pores. Wash acne problem areas twice daily. During washing and cleaning can make the acne problem worse. Cover problem areas with enough product for acne, but no longer applicable. Use a moisturizer that is oil free and water-based to help relieve dry skin and flaking. Picking and squeezing the defects that cause infection and scarring – so do not. acne products take four to six weeks to see results. To date no evidence of a quick fix. See a dermatologist if the acne problem is not improving. Other suggestions to help with the cause of acne is to improve eating habits and adding natural supplements to your diet.
